KINGS1995

A Level

Typically ages 16–19

After IGCSE or O Level, KINGS offers two ways forward. A Level is the academic route: fewer subjects, studied properly. The BTEC equivalent route is for students who do their best work through applied assignments and still want university-facing guidance.

A Level

Academic route

Usually three subjects, taught across two years, with seminars, problem classes, and written feedback that expects a point of view.

  • Subject choices made with university requirements in mind
  • Weekly live teaching and independent reading
  • Mock examinations and a revision term that is actually planned

BTEC Equivalent

Applied route

A coursework-led pathway for students who want applied study, portfolios, and the same counselling toward university or work.

  • Assignment briefs with checkpoints, not a single deadline at the end
  • Skills that sit next to A Level: research, presentation, and professional writing
  • A timetable that can include a blend where a student needs both routes
A seminar-style class in session

Subjects

  • Mathematics and Further Mathematics
  • Sciences
  • Business and Economics
  • Computer Science
  • English and humanities, by cohort
  • Applied BTEC-equivalent subjects, by cohort

How the week works

  • A planning conversation before any subject is locked
  • Personal and career counselling sits inside the timetable, not beside it
  • References and applications are drafted with the teachers who know the work
