How to prepare for a placement conversation

By Admissions Office, Admissions · 14 May 2026 · 1 min read

A parent and student reviewing papers at a laptop

The first conversation with Kings is not an interrogation. It is how we decide whether Year 7, Senior School or Sixth Form is the fair place to start.

What helps us

  • Recent reports or transcripts, even if they are informal
  • The subjects the student wants, and the ones they hope to avoid
  • Any support plan, including special educational needs
  • Time zone, and any training schedule we should protect

What we will not ask you to pretend

If a year was disrupted, say so. Placement is kinder and more accurate when the story is plain. After the conversation we confirm the pathway, the stage, and a timetable. Enrolment follows that, not the other way round.

When you are ready, write to admissions@kings.ac. Tell us the student’s age and the qualification you think you are aiming for. Not sure is a complete answer.
